Merry Christmas & Happy New Year

Hello Tastourians!

You've asked for it, you got it!

As if I don't have enough to do, with a new baby, and demanding husband I am
now starting a blog! Well I just can put out this burning flame to teach
the world about food and drink... plus the long daunting task of finding a suitable, affordable home help to look after my
husband, David and 3 month old, Michael is finally over.

When most people hire a mother's helper, they are worried that their partners may find
them attractive... I was more worried that she would break into my liquor
cabinet and drink my Port Dundas!

Where some women hide hand bags and shoes from their husbands, I hide bottles
of wine and Whisky! Port Dundas is very special. It is a grain
whisky, most are made of barley. AND the best part is it is aged in a
sherry cask, most are just an used wine barrel. The price difference of
purchasing a barrel to age the whisky in is about £300. A sherry aged cask
makes the whisky sweeter. For some
reason this did not convince my husband the bottle was worth the £77 price
tag. However, one sip and his soul was
warmed and filled with the sweet essence of caramel, butterscotch and oak. He still thinks I am crazy, but then again, I
think it’s crazy to spend £1000 on a handbag... I think my priorities are in
line. Anyone want to disagree, feel free to reply to this blog. In fact I encourage you to add as many
comments as you like to the blogs and tweets, as it feels more like a two way
conversation and I want to know more about you too!

Speaking of souls, has anyone seen the movie Cold
Souls? It’s about trading your soul for
another. Do you think my Port Dundas has
a soul?

Well it’s a bit naughty but I had to pour myself a little
taste, but it is Christmas this week (and Santa knows how nice I’ve been this
year).

It would be lovely for you to be sitting with me savouring
this winter soul warmer, but instead I will raise my glass and wish you a happy
Christmas and may 2010 be the year which all your dreams come true! (cheesy but I’m American, which is not an excuse, just
an explanation)

Cheers,

Kelly
