  • February 12, 2011
  • 05:00 PM
  • £45 Shepherd's Bush

Registration

  • Please register your interest so that I know if I there is enough interest to host this event again

Join us for an exclusive ‘behind the scenes’ visit just for Tastourians, led by the founder of Sipsmith, Sam Galsworthy.

Sipsmith has crept onto the London bar scene and is causing a storm with the city’s top bar-tenders and mixologists! Both the gin and vodka have also won gold medals at the 2009 ‘Gin Masters’ and ‘Vodka Masters’ award ceremonies.

On the tour between 5 – 7pm, you’ll…

• Meet Prudence, the first copper still to launch in London since 1820

• Discover the botanicals used to make Sipsmith Gin (Macedonian juniper berries, Spanish orange peel, Chinese cassia bark to name just a few!)

• Learn about the history of gin and the very English tradition of gin & tonic

• Have a guided tasting of Sipsmith Gin and Vodka

• Enjoy a special Sipsmith cocktail: In the bar at The Dorchester, a Sipsmith G&T costs £12.94!

• Tuck into some cheese and charcuterie

• Receive a free bottle of Sipsmith Gin or Vodka (not widely available to purchase, retails at £23 - £28. If you don’t think you’ll get through a bottle, it makes a wonderful present!)

Sipsmith’s awards & reviews

“Made in London, in a traditional handcrafted copper still, by three friends who passionately put quality before quantity, this is a drink with soul and substance” (Richard Reed, Style magazine)

“It’s a new brand that draws on the oldest traditions of gin-making. A product that’s sophisticated, yet neighbourly, made with the old-fashioned, yet thoroughly modern concept of hand-crafting something fine, and supporting local produce and producers” (Claire Doble, The London Blog)

“Stunning spirits that are smooth, full of charater and have true intensity of flavour” (The Drink Shop.com)

Dinner & Cocktails after the tour

After the Sipsmith tour, if Tastourians fancy it, we will be heading to Tatra, a fantastic Polish restaurant on Goldhawk Road, for dinner and cocktails.

Tatra has modern Polish and East European cuisine with a huge selection of vodkas, including their excellent home-made flavoured vodkas. The chef/owner used to be the head chef at Wodka in Kensington, before deciding that he wanted to do it bigger, better and for less money!

For more info about Tatra, check out www.tatrarestaurant.co.uk
